Role Summary

Our sister company, B2E consulting, requires a senior consultant to review the Payment Services Firms sector in the UK from a conduct supervision perspective and produce a report for a Financial Services regulatory organisation

Role Detail

 To carry out desk-based research of the Payment Services and E-Money sector in the UK from a conduct supervision perspective and produce a report which includes the following:

* The key segments within the sector beyond those set by the legislation (eg by business model type);

* The population (number of firms) within each segment of this sector and the top 30 by way of turnover and customers;

* Analysis of how firms make their money and the inter-dependencies between each  element of the payment chain;

* What competition exists in the sector - the key players; new entrants; the impact of new legislation (eg the cap on interchange fees) and new technology on the market; and the reaction of existing players to the legislation, new entrants and innovators;

* A summary of what is coming by way of new rules and legislation (eg EMD and PSD2) that will impact the firms in this sector and how they will be regulated, and when it will take effect;

* An overview of how the technology in the market is evolving and what impact this is likely to have on the sector (including the payments technology, digital payments channels, credit scoring etc);

* Working with the client's Retail Banking conduct supervisors and assessing the  current supervision and firm-engagement strategy for this sector of firms;

* Proposals for how to engage with the industry most effectively (e.g. direct with firms, via trade bodes, industry events / roadshows etc).

* The final report should also highlight what the risks are to consumers and the  key technology and infrastructure risks for the client to review in developing its supervision programme for this sector.
