Our Client is a leading global Law Firm with an outstanding reputation for delivering high value, high quality and innovative Professional Services to leading institutions globally.
They have an internal Business Improvement function
which provides consulting support and project management delivery for firm-wide
initiatives to improve the efficiency of their matters, or deals with
clients.
These are large complex programmes in their own right
and they are having considerable success in improving the way these are
approached and handled, creating expansion opportunities for the team.
This role requires specific financial expertise which will be
leveraged to support the more detailed financial aspects of Project Management
and other efficiency related work carried out by the Business Improvement team.
The Project Manager will be working with Senior
Lawyers and Business people at the heart of the City legal and financial world.
The ideal candidate will be sharp and incisive, able
to thrive in a demanding professional and intellectual milieu, perhaps having
had 2/3 years experience in a top tier consulting environment.
They will be looking to develop their career in a
slightly different direction in an internal business improvement role.
Details
The Legal Project Manager will be responsible for
supporting large complex pieces of client work and bringing about business
process improvement in the firm. They will be responsible for the
following:
- Agreeing
what level of support is required at the outset and ensuring relevant
controls are in place
- Jointly
planning the engagement with the core team, using appropriate tools
including MS Project.
- Helping
determining pricing and budgeting and highlighting issues around
profitability, recovery and payment
- Putting
in place a process for reporting on WIP and debt monitoring
- Use the
plan and resource model for the matter to help determine an up front
price/budget for the matter taking into consideration fee deals and
profitability
- Setting
up the segments to reflect the plan or any requirements from the client,
this should smooth the billing process further down the line
- Putting
in place a process for reporting on WIP and debt monitoring
- Highlighting potential issues around profitability, recovery and payment
- Understand the reporting requirements of the team
determining how the reports can be produced in the most efficient manner
Key Skills and
Requirements
- Excellent
Academics - 1st Class or 2:1 degree from top tier University with
expertise in Financial Analysis, Excel and Reporting tools
- 3-4 years experience in a Top Tier Consulting or Professional Services or Legal firm
- Demonstrating high levels of achievement in business
